We preach compassion for girls who endure abuse and trauma, but what about when those same girls commit crimes? Take Sara Kruzan, who was convicted of murder for shooting her sex trafficker in the head. "It's interesting how we can feel compassion for the young girl who is being sexually abused, who is being trafficked, up until the point that she acts out that pain," justice reform advocate Javier Stauring tells @barnettjenna in the latest issue of Sojourners. "Once she falls into the category of inmate or criminal, she is no longer worthy of any kind of compassion."
